USPAP Instructor Recertification

The certifications for all AQB Certified USPAP Instructors will expire on March 31, 2024. To renew your certification beyond this date, you are required to complete the online Instructor Recertification Course (IRC), which will be offered through The Appraisal Foundation's (Foundation) online partner McKissock.

The online IRC will be available for six (6) months, from October 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. All Instructors must complete this course by March 31, 2024, to renew their certification beyond that date. Instructors who choose to recertify will have their instructor certification extended for two (2) years to March 31, 2024. An examination will not be included with the online IRC.

If an instructor does not successfully complete the most recent offering of the IRC prior to January 1, 2024, the instructor will not be permitted to teach the 2023-2024 USPAP courses.  If an instructor has not successfully passed the IRC on or before March 31, 2024, certification will expire midnight Eastern Time on March 31, 2024, and the individual would need to reapply to take the Instructor Certification Course (ICC).

The online IRC is not recognized by the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) as being equivalent to the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course (or its equivalent); therefore, the online IRC will not satisfy state appraiser regulatory agency requirements for completion of the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course and will not count toward appraiser continuing education requirements.

Contact Olivia ([email protected]), if you are having any issues with the recertification process.

Steps

All Instructors must complete the following steps to recertify:

  1. Update your Foundation account, complete the online recertification application, and pay the application renewal fee of $150 HERE. You will receive a confirmation email for payment, and a separate email with the link to take the course.
  2. Register for, pay a course fee of $295, and successfully complete the online course. The online course is currently available now through March 31, 2024 (until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time)
  3. After successfully completing the course, the Foundation will verify that you have completed all the necessary steps to re-certify and will issue you a renewal certificate.
  4. Once you receive your certificate, please login to your ShareFile account and verify that you have access to the instructor materials (Student Manual, Instructor notes, Power Point, USPAP, Reference Manual and forms).

Official notification from the Foundation is required before an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor is authorized to teach a National USPAP Course (15-hour or 7-hour) or their equivalents. Once your recertification has been processed by the Foundation and notification has been sent, Instructors will receive information via email on how to access the National USPAP Course instructor materials.
